New Riverview Center ProjectApril 14, 2006
PWWG has begun the design of a 22-story apartment building in Morgantown, WV in cooperation with Kane Core, Inc. The Riverview Center will accommodate 1,000 students in 1, 2, and 3 bedroom suites and feature a fitness center, cyber café, and retail space. Ground-breaking is anticipated in October.

New Staff MemberApril 14, 2006
Lisa Doerfler, who received her Master of Architecture from the University of Oregon and her Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Virginia, will be joining PWWG as an intern architect in mid-April.

Construction Commencing on Oglebay HallApril 14, 2006
Selective demolition has begun at Oglebay Hall at West Virginia University. The renovation and addition to the historic hall will be complete in approximately 16 months. The building will house the Forensic Science department and classrooms for general study.

New Dixie Cup Factory ProjectApril 14, 2006
PWWG, in affiliation with the Ashley Development Co., has begun design work to convert the former Dixie Cup factory building into high-end apartments. The building, which is located in Bethlehem, PA, will be comprised of nearly 300 apartments and feature landscaped courtyards and a community center.

Student Housing at WVUJanuary 4, 2006
PWA has been awarded a new project from West Virginia University at the Evansdale Residential Complex. The project begins with a phased renovation of the 10-story Brooke Tower residence hall that will upgrade the overall quality of the facility, providing new amenities, finishes and accessibility enhancements for the 40 year old facility. Ultimately, the project is to be expanded to include other towers and the non-residential spaces in the complex, which is home to nearly 2000 WVU underclassmen.

New Employees Join the FirmJanuary 4, 2006
In January, two new intern architects will join the team at PWA. Anne Savage, a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, holds a Bachelors in Architecture and a Masters in Public Policy and Management. Mick McNutt, a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and Syracuse University, holds a Masters in Architecture.

Another Award Winning ProjectJanuary 4, 2006
AIA Pittsburgh has awarded the Cabin on a Pond in Maine project the Award of Excellence in the Open Plans category. A jury member commented, “I have seldom seen anything done as well. As an idea for a house, this is a labor of love that needs to be celebrated.“ The project, which has previously received other design awards in “unbuilt” categories, is currently under construction.

West General Robinson Street Garage UpdateJanuary 4, 2006
Construction of the West General Robinson Street Garage is progressing on the North Shore. At 30% completion, the foundations and speed ramp have been finished, and the precast concrete beams, panels and ”tees” are being placed. The project will be completed in time for the Major League Baseball All-Star Game, which will be held at PNC Park in July, 2006.
